Health Spending Account

A Health Spending Account is a group benefit that provides reimbursement for a wide range of health-related expenses, over and above regular benefit plans.

A Health Spending Account can be considered as an enhancement to a health benefit plan. It covers a much wider range of benefits than are covered under your base benefit plan.

Health Spending Account Example:

Kyle and Sarah’s two teenagers require braces. Kyle’s benefits plan doesn’t include coverage for orthodontic treatment and Sarah’s benefits plan only covers 50 per cent of the cost for such care. Kyle isn’t worried. His group benefits plan includes a Health Spending Account, a fund of benefit credits available for medical and dental expenses beyond the company’s coverage. He appreciates the ability to choose where he can use his credits for eligible expenses, especially when he sees his teenagers’ smiles.
